It is rather an unusual combination. Tax, tea and travel aren’t often found together. But there is some logic behind us combining such an odd trio.
It’s the run up to the resident tax declaration deadline (June 30th). We are aware that many people living in Spain are still confused about their resident taxes. There is so much misinformation out there, and word soon spreads, whether the word is accurate or not.
And it’s not just taxes that confuse residents. Talking to people within the expat community and living alongside them, we are aware that inheritance concerns continue to dominate. Inheritance tax and the differences between the Spanish system and that of other European countries worry you.
So why not help answer your queries? We decided at Ábaco to open up our offices to people who want to know more but are finding it difficult to get trustworthy answers to their questions. During March we have been operating an ‘open house’ so that people can book in an hour’s free consultation with one of our experts and have their questions answered.
This is where the tax and travel come in. Talking about tax isn’t much fun. Talking about holidays is. To sweeten the pill a little we are also offering information and advice about registering for Imserso, the subsidised Spanish holiday programme. To wash it all down, there’s a cup of tea and a cupcake thrown in too!
Taking it out and about – to Algorfa
Driving into Torrevieja isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, so to speak. To help out those who are a little troubled at the idea of coming into town, we thought we could take our ‘Tax, Tea and Travel’ event out on the road.
The principle is the same. On the 14th March we will be explaining more about tax and inheritance, providing information about Imserso and sharing a cup of tea and a cupcake, this time in the lovely little village of Algorfa.
The venue is Cafeteria Ritmo on the Avenida de la Libertad, 15. From 11.00 to 13.00 our experts will be there, explaining more about the subjects that bother you. The focus might be on tax and inheritance but we still want it to be enjoyable. Our little ‘quiz’ helps introduce the topics, our expert explains them in a little more detail and there will be chance to ask questions too.
Over the past few years we have registered hundreds of British and Scandinavian people for Imserso, the Spanish holiday programme subsidised by the Spanish government. We have seen people enjoy many holidays on Mainland Spain, the Ballearics and Canary islands. They have come back and told us all about them. We are still happy to continue helping with registration and there will be opportunity in Algorfa tomorrow. If you are a resident, retired in Spain, you don’t have anything to lose.
We know how much you value the chance to talk about the issues that worry you. We have the experts to answer your queries, and we won’t be charging for any of this.
I hope I have convinced you to pay us a visit or come to an event and that Tax, Tea and Travel are quite compatible after all.
To take part in the event in Algorfa call Jane at 96 670 3748.
